Aamir Khan would have not dreamt in his wildest thoughts that his movie name Dhobi Ghat would problem him but the unexpected happened, as the washermen society is not happy with the use of the word ‘Dhobi’ which means ‘a human being who does laundry’. So, Aamir Khan apologised to the society if he had unintentionally hurt their sentiments. Aamir said that people in cities don’t realize the negative aspect of caste system in rural areas. He added that he values the emotions of the people but at the price of his creativity. He went on to say that he realised the real view of the community and told them that he wouldn’t have chosen the title if they came up with the complaint a year earlier. Aamir Khan agreed to modify the title of the movie even though it would price him huge financial loss but the Akhil Bharatiya Dhobi Mahasangh finally asked him to retain the movie name, as it refers to a place in Mumbai.
Amit Khatri, General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Dhobi Mahasangh said that they were anxious because people of certain caste are looked down upon in many places but realized on seeing the movie that it’s all about the famous Dhobi Ghat place in Mumbai. He added that they dropped their demand for title change, as they didn’t desire the actor to suffer loss because of them. I have seen almost all movies of Mallika Sherawat and have loads of high resolution Mallika Sherawat images in my laptop. Moreover, the Aamir Khan understood their feelings. Krishan Kumar Kanojia, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Dhobi Samaj, also said that the movie has portrayed the community well. Kiran Rao, Aamir’s wife and director of the Dhobi Ghat, said that the movie is all about how the lives of people belonging to different communities, regions, language and economic status are renewed after staying in Dhobi Ghat.

Aamir knew he wouldn’t look resounding as an actor if he didn’t actually play at with talent seriously for a few weeks before he went on set.
